Volunteers play a vital and critical role, performing such roles as educational naturalists, teachers for preservation in one's local community, land restorers, trail workers, artists, and behind-the-scenes administrators. 

Nature Guides - Nature Guides wel;come guests at the Appalachian Forest Museum, Cave Canyon Preserve. This program is led by Tim Pohlar at 937-402-8317 or internships@highlandssanctuary.org 
 

Beechcliff Crew -  This group meets on Wednesdays several months a year at Beechcliff Education Center to perform light repairs and building maintenance. Led by Debbie Miller at 513-683-6514 or drmiller@fuse.net. 
 

Garlic Mustard Pluckers -  This group is a part of an organized work force that works one or more days the last week of April to remove garlic mustard plants from highly vulnerable areas of the Sanctuary. Held for two weeks each spring. See Volunteer Calendar.
 

Cave Canyon Restoration Crew -  These people usually work solo or in small groups on weekdays performing physical services at our primary visitor center and trail system. The work is primarily outdoors and includes removing non-native vegetation, and doing trail work. Led by by Tim Pohlar at 937-402-8317 or internships@highlandssanctuary.org
