Directions from Columbus to Chalet Nivale Preserve.

Your final destination of Chalet Nivale Preserve is approximately 85 miles from Outerbelt 270. To Begin: Get on the 270 Outerbelt around Columbus and head south toward the SR 23 Exit. Exit on SR 23 and go south. Follow Route 23 all the way past Circleville, past Chillicothe, and past Waverly, staying the entire distance on 23. Five miles south of Waverly turn right or WEST on the Appalachian Highway, Route 32. Follow 32 approximately 18 miles to its intersection with Route 73. Turn right on Route 73. If you get to SR 41, you went too far. Follow SR 73 a short way to Bacon Flat Road, it will be the first road on the left immediately after crossing the bridge over the Scioto Brush Creek. It’s a bit hard to see because the road is narrow and dips down out of sight. If you see Frog Hollow Road you went too far. Turn left on Bacon Flat and go approximately ¼ mile down the Road. Chalet Nivale is the first driveway on the right. You’ll see its entrance sign and a log cabin deep  in the woods. This is privately rented by a volunteer caretaker–please respect his privacy If you are here for the Wildflower Pilgrimage or group events with large attendance, please park on the right side of Bacon Flat Road and gather in the small parking lot.
