July 27, 2019 | 1pm at Serpent Mound Picnic Shelter; free of charge, no registration needed
The Serpent Mound Impact Structure is located in southern Ohio near the intersection of Adams, Highland and Pike Counties. It is roughly an 8 km (5 mile) diameter circular geologic feature when viewed with satellite imagery. Join Mark Baranoski for a fascinating discussion on the geology of crater and a history of its discovery, the controversy surrounding its origin tale, and the research that eventually confirmed it to be an impact site in the 1990s.
